Particals of solids don't move fast enough to over come the strong atractiton between them so they are held tightly together and vibrate in place. A solid is the state in which
matter has a definate shape and volume. Two types of solids are crystalline and amorphous. the particles in a crystalline solid have a very orderly arrangement unlike the amorphous solid wich particles are no in an orderly arangement. 10/26/07
